October Global Health Readings, #2

Great piece discussing US foreign aid, dividing it into military and development focuses, and reviewing how it is distributed.
Really interesting development piece disputing the impact of GMO crops on crop yield, at least in high resource settings. This flies in the claims of the makers of these crops, and potentially (eventually) would call into question their role in development.
The slow drive towards eradication for several neglected tropical diseases is a welcome counterbalance to the ongoing difficulties around polio eradication, and stands as a reminder of what global health can accomplish when things go well.
